Uncle Chuck's Room (full)
For 86 years, this was was one man's nightly refuge. While we remiss that Uncle Chuck forever slept in the same bed, we did get him a new mattress when we remodeled the upstairs - and Uncle Chuck picked out the new wallpaper himself!
From the photo of his old collie, Lady, to the covered wagon on the dresser that Chuck one showing his cows at the fair, the comfortable space will always be "Chuck's Room".
Cool and inviting, wake up to the morning sun with the room's delightful eastern exposure.
The back master bedroom, complete with a second stairwell, was for a very long time split with a thin wall to make a separate room for the live-in farm hand. In 2013 the space was completely re-done to bring it back to one large bedroom. The most modern of the rooms, it is decorated with more recent scenes from around the farm (many you will see on this website). With it's own heat, A/C and two ceiling fans, you can control your environment.
The plush beds are pulled together to be one king, but can bet separated into two twins depending on the guests. Wake up refreshed and alive in this bright and soothing space - flush with light as the sun peers through the southern exposure windows
The Four Seasons Room (king or two twins)
For as long as can be remembered, the Twin's Room had two twin beds. For just as long, the Homan brothers ("the twins") would come by to help work the farm and occasionally stay the night instead of making the journey back to their home in Warren, Pennsylvania.
Today the Twin’s Room only has one bed, another antique of course. The striped wallpaper sheens with the changes of light and makes the nine foot ceilings seem even taller. Decorated with family photos from recent generations we've left plenty of room for more photos to be collected in the photo albums and displays. With double windows also overlooking the south front field, the cool spring and warm summer breezes fuel a great night’s sleep.

At the top of the stairs Grandma Lillie’s Room is a quaint refuge with a window overlooking the south front field. Lily-of-the-Valley adorns the room in honor of “Fufa” (Grandma Lillie). Jot down Fufa's rice pudding recipe. Read her journal entry from the day of the first moon landing. Most importantly, enjoy a restful evening in the one of a kind antique bed - a work of art.

Steve's favorite, the Front Room is situated on the north side of the house above the front porch, the Front Room has windows on three walls giving great breezes and light. The king-sized bed offers plenty of room and Great Grandma Ethel Baker’s vanity is there to help you get ready in the morning. The elegant room is decorated with images of past generations – including childhood photos of Uncle Chuck and a portrait of great grandpa Charlie (maybe a childhood pic of Steve, too).
The Front Room (king)
Five bedrooms are there to provide you all with a great night’s sleep. Don’t let the antique bed frames fool you, they are all new comfy mattresses! The recently remodeled, each room is unique in its own way - but all have classic style and comfort.
Every season highlights something special in the homestead. The radiant heat brings great comfort all winter long. The spring sunshine lights up the interior with the southeastern exposures. The summer breezes provide a cool spot on the front porch. While guests have plenty of places to sit and talk during the fall Thanksgiving pilgrimage to the farm.
It’s still and old farm house, so don’t expect a jacuzzi tub or multiple shower heads. But both the water and gas wells run deep, so there is never a shortage of hot water!!
While you might prefer the simple life while at the Ames Farm, there is plenty of access to modern technology. Full wifi and strong cell phone service as well as a big, flat screen TV with way too many channels. But feel free to leave your work devices in your suitcase (or pretend you lost the charger) and give one of the rotary phones a try if you need to make a call!
Modernized, but keeping within the historical spirit, the upstairs highlights nine foot ceilings, original flute molding, and old school radiator heat. Five comfortable bedrooms are available to enjoy, each with their own classic style.
Built to last, the five bedroom farm house is solid with character. Stone foundation. Brick exterior. Slate roof. Set on a small knoll the house is positioned perfectly for the rising and setting sun, withstanding the harshest lake effect snow and inhaling fresh summer breezes.
